Updated 2/8/2020:343 Industries hasconfirmedthat the job listing is for Halo Infinite and that the wording of the listing is “standard boilerplate language for job listings,” not indicative of a new Halo project being developed. Our original news story is below.
What you need to know
Halodeveloper 343 Industries has recently put up ajob listingfor the role of Producer. In the listing’s description, it’s noted that applicants will be expected to “help develop a new project in the Halo universe.” The description then goes on to list the various responsibilities for the job as well as the required qualifications.
It’s unclear what this “new project” will be, although if we had to take a guess, we’d say that it will be a spinoff game that takes the Halo franchise to a new genre, such as an RPG or a Flood-themed Halo game. We also wouldn’t be surprised if this project turned out to be Halo Wars 3, as many fans have been hoping for the continuation of the spinoff RTS series following 2017’sHalo Wars 2. There’s also a chance that it could be some sort of addition toHalo Infinite, which 343 Industries has called a “platform for the future” in aninterviewwith former Halo Infinite Studio Head Chris Lee.
Ultimately, we won’t know for sure until 343 Industries shares more details about the project. Even so, though, it’s cool to think that Microsoft’s flagship Xbox franchise may be spreading its wings and exploring new territory in the future. We’ve always been strong believers in the sentiment that the Halo universe would be a perfect fit for all different kinds of genres, so we’re hoping that 343 Industries and Microsoft are looking to capitalize on that potential.
Halo Infinite is expected to launch for $60 onXbox Series X,Xbox Series S, Xbox One consoles, and Windows 10 PCs.
