When Battlefield 2042 arrives later this year, it stands a good chance at becoming one of thebest Xbox games, but it’ll do so bereft of any kind of traditional single-player campaign, despite taking place in a storied and detail-filled near-future world.
Similar to some other multiplayer-only games like Apex Legends and Overwatch, Battlefield 2042 is letting its players get a glimpse into the war-torn world through new short film story trailers. You can watch the first trailer, Exodus, below.
The latest story trailer explores a slice of Exodus' life, which is actually Kimble “Irish” Graves from Battlefield 4, but with a new moniker and a new challenge to overcome. Exodus is faced with an impossible decision: between the lives of 200 innocent people, or the future of all the Non-Patriated that suffer from the consequences of 2042’s violence-riddled world. The story trailer looks great, and may scratch the itch for some players hoping for a single-player campaign.
