Dell updated its flagshipXPS 13 laptop earlier this yearand is now getting trickling down those upgrades to its larger 15 and 17-inch models today.
In conjunction with Intel unveiling its improved 11th Gen H-series chips, Dell announced that its XPS 15 and 17-inch models will come equipped with the latest Tiger Lake H-series chips.
Intel’s H-series chips represents the company’s mass production of 10nm processors for grand consumption with boosted six-core performance.
Other internal upgrades include more powerful GPU options such as NVIDIA’s RTX 3050, 3050 Ti, 60W RTX 3050 and 70W RTX 3060.
As for the physical upgrades to the XPS 15 and 17, there are minimal changes to its historic chassis this year. Thanks to slim bezel profile, Dell continues to sell the smallest 15 and 17-inch laptops in the market, and the 2021 variants retain their legendary 93.7% screen-to-body ratios this year.
Dell is also moving to a 16:10 aspect ratio for its InfinityEdge display for both the 15.6 and 17-inch models as well options for 4K with 100% Adobe RGB color options or 3.5K OLED displays with 400 and 500 nits of brightness.
Since the chassis has remained relatively untouched, port selection remains intact from last year’s model to include 2 Thunderbolt ports, full sized SD card slot, 1 USB Type-C and 3.5mm headphone/mic jack combo.
Dell is also packing a 90W or 130W AC adapter in the box to power its 56 or 86WHr battery which should get most users through a day, depending on screen tech.
Dell’sXPS 15 and 17 are still TBDregarding availability but should start at around $1,249.99 and $1,449.99 respectively when they do hit shelves.
Dell also unveiled some peripherals to boost the productivity of its new XPS 15 and 17 in its Dell 32 4K USB-C Hub Monitor and active noise cancelling Dell Premier Wireless ANC headsets.
4K USB-C Hub Monitor
The newDell 4K USB-C Hub Monitorpushes a 31.5-inch 4K resolution screen with IPS technology, built-in low blue light screen. The monitor can be tilted, pivoted and swirls for a customized view and added comfortability.
More specifically, the color gamut is marked at 99% sRGB, support of 1.07 billion colors, up to 8 ms response time, and anti-glare treatment. Regarding port (or ‘Hub’ capabilities) selections, the Dell Hub monitor includes a DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.0 port, USB Type-C Gen 1, 4 USB 6Gbps ports and single HDMI (HDCP 1.4).
Dell Premier Wireless ANC Headset
Starting at $299.99
With practically every OEM releasing their versions of ANC headset, Dell’s $299.99 come at a great time for fans of Dell’s craftsmanship.
Unfortunately, the Dell Premier Wireless ANC headsets are more conference or telemarketing-type headset than they are Sony or Bose competitors.
However, the DPW’s come with smart sensor technology to help resume calls and audio fell more natural with automatically announced connection statuses, talk time, and mute status. There are also easy call controls that include mute controls, volume, and redial functions built into the headset’s buttons.
According to Dell, talk time on the DPW’s is up to 12 hours and 10 hours with ANC and up to 30m (98ft) wireless range.
The Dell Premier Wireless ANC headset should be available starting June 25, 2021.
