We first came to know Microsoft engineer Dona Sarkar when shetook over the role of head of the Windows Insider programback in June of 2016, taking over from Gabe Aul. Since then, she moved onto work on the Azure team as an advocate for the Power Platform, Microsoft’s foray into low-code / no-code programming.
Now, Sarkar is taking on a new role, this time leading Accessibility tech for Microsoft internally:
1/I’m changing roles within@microsoft. Starting today I’ll be reporting to the incredible@jennylayfluffy, our Chief Accessibility Officer for Microsoft.
I am so honored to be leading Accessibility tech for the whole company ????pic.twitter.com/ma0wecr6JQ

As Sarkarexplains in the Twitter thread, she will be “cajoling, err influencing all of our product teams to keep making#AssistiveTechthat’s more accessible, usable and innovative than ever.”
We’ve always enjoyed our interactions with Dona, and Microsoft couldn’t have a better person to lead its product teams to make all of its products more accessible and assistive. Microsoft is no stranger to accessible tech, launching theXbox Adaptive Controller in 2018, for example, and working make its products more usable for everyone, but there’s always more work to do. We wish Dona Sarkar all the best in her newest adventure!
