Microsoft brought two new cumulative updates to users running older versions ofWindows 10. Theseupdatesare KB4499147 forWindows 10 Fall Creators Update (version 1709)and KB4499162 forWindows 10 Creators Update (version 1703).
It is worth mentioning that Microsoft supports these versions of Windows 10 only in Enterprise, Education and IoT Enterprise editions. The Home and Pro editions won’t get these recentupdatesbecause they are no longer supported by Microsoft.
In Windows 10 version 1703, thisupdatewas preceded byKB4505055and in Windows 10 version 1709, the recentupdatewas preceded byKB4505062.
What’s new in KB4499147 and KB4499162?
KB4499147 increases OS Build number to 16299.1182 forWindows 10 version 1709and KB4499162 increases OS Build number to 15063.1839 forWindows 10 version 1703.
Bothupdatesfix an issue regarding looping redirects between Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer 11.
Also, they fix a plethora of problems such as an “Incorrect Username or password” login errorwhen using an empty or null password and Windows Defender Credential Guard is enabled.
KB4499147 and KB4499162 are similar, but not the same
Taken separately, KB4499147 also solves aDNS issuein Windows 10 version 1709, as it is described on Microsoft official website:
Addresses an issue that may cause event 7600 in the Domain Name System (DNS) server event log to contain an unreadable server name.
