Patch Tuesdayis right around the corner and a new set of cumulativeupdateswill be released for all the supportedWindows 10versions.
Microsoft just released the following updates:
Windows 10 October Patch Tuesday updates
Although we’ve gotten used tobig Patch Tuesday updatesand lots of features and changes, it seem thatMicrosoftwill deviate this time from the classic deployment.
A smaller number ofupdatesis expected, mainly because .NET, Exchange, and SharePoint got some big changes in September.
Also, Chrome and Firefox next major releases are set for later this month. As a result, there will be minimal or no improvements at all in thisPatch Tuesday.
Hopefully, there will be some changes involvingAdobe Flash. Considering the fact that Flash got only onesecurity updatein the last three months, now is probably the time for another one.
SSU’s and Windows 10 v1909
Speaking ofsecurity updates, it’s also possible to see some new SSU’s (service stackupdates).Microsoftis releasing them separately because they are critical for stability and maintenance.
SSU’s usually contain CVE fixes and they should be installed prior to anyupdateto make sure that everything goes well.
Last month we saw for the first time SSU’s released for all the operating systems, butMicrosofthas released them more often in recent times. So we might see new ones in the October 2019Patch Tuesday.
Another thing to keep in mind is that the tech giant releases major featureupdateson a semi-annual cycle, usually in April and October.
This means thatWindows 10 v1909will finally show up. It has been tested in the Insider Program for months, and now it’s finally ready for deployment.
19H2 will be a smallerupdatewithout many new features. Basically, it will be a stepping stone for20H1which will be released sometime in the spring of 2020.
