Today, Electronic Artssharedits financial results for fiscal year Q3 2021. One of the highlights is the split of digital to physical sales, as EA reports a 62% digital share in the last 12 months. Apex Legends saw 30% year-over-year growth in players, while net bookings overall for the past twelve months reached $5.9 billion.

EA also spoke on itsongoing acquisition of Codemasters, which is intended to build a “racing powerhouse.” EA deems it a “natural fit” with “clear opportunities” for EA Sports, while EA also expects to further finalize the process tomorrow, February 3.

During its earnings call, EA noted that EA Play being combined withXbox Game Pass Ultimatehas “accelerated” its growth, with almost 13 million players across all platforms.

For upcoming game releases,Mass Effect: Legendary Editionis set to be released on May 14, 2021. EA says that it has 35 games in various stages of development, including the next Battlefield, which takes full advantage of the power of next-gen system like the Xbox Series X, Series S and PS5. The game also features maps of “unprecedented scale” with more players than ever before.

This new Battlefield game is still on track to be released in Holiday 2021, with EA saying the team is actually ahead of internal milestones for development. The game focuses on “all-out military warfare” indicating its likely a return to modern times.
