The GTA V remaster for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 consoles has beendelayed to March 2022, Rockstar Games announced today. The game was originally set to be released on November 11, just a couple of days after the blockbusters Call of Duty: Vanguard and Forza Horizon 5.
“While we are extremely excited to be bringing GTA V to the latest generation of consoles, the game requires a few additional months for polishing and fine-tuning. We look forward to sharing more details about these expanded and enhanced versions soon, including the new standalone version of GTA Online also coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in March,” the company said today.
This much-anticipated GTA V remaster will bring improved graphics, enhanced gameplay, and seamless character switching on Xbox Series X|S and PS5 consoles. Thanks to a marketing deal between Sony and Rockstar Games, the new standalone version of GTA Online will also be available to claim for free for PlayStation 5 gamers for the first three months after the game’s launch in March 2022.
GTA V was originally released in 2013 on Xbox 360 and PS3, and Xbox One and PS4 versions followed a year later. The game went to become one of the best-selling games of all time with 150 million copies sold as of August 2021, and its GTA Online mode remains a true money maker for Rockstar Games after all these years. If Xbox Series X|S and PS5 are still very hard to find in 2021, there’s a good chance that this GTA V remaster ends up as one of the best-selling games of 2022.
