Microsoft may havedelayed Halo: Infinite to next year, but the company will still have a next-gen Halo experience for the launch of its Xbox Series X and Series S consoles next month. That’s right, Halo: The Master Chief Collection will get a new patch on November 17 that will bring next-gen upgrades for all titles in the anthology released on Xbox One six years ago.
A tweet from the official Halo Twitter account earlier today mentioned 120 FPS support for the Campaign and Multiplayer modes, split-screen improvements for all games and up to 4K graphics on the Xbox Series X. Xbox marketing chief Aaron Greenberg also confirmed the addition of adjustable Field of View sliders, a feature currently exclusive to the PC version of Halo: MCC.
Excited to share that Halo Master Chief Collection will be fully optimized this holiday including 120fps campaign & multiplayer on both Xbox Series X & S. Also cross-gen play & adjustable FOV. Note all these upgrades are free to anyone who owns the game or is in Xbox Game Pass!https://t.co/ZZ5A5UOXhl

Halo: The Master Chief Collection was originally released back in November 2014 on Xbox One, and it took years for developer 343 Industries to finally fix the matchmaking issues that plagued the different titles since launch. All Halo games in the collection are already enhanced for the Xbox One X with support for 4K at 60 FPS, but the ability to play both the campaigns and multiplayer modes at 120 FPS on Series X|S consoles (on compatible TVs/gaming monitors) is very exciting.
Last week, Microsoft shared a list of30 games that will be optimized for the Xbox Series X|S at launch, including existing games like Gears 5, Borderlands 3, Forza Horizon 4, as well as new games such as Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, DIRT 5, Gears Tactics, and Watch Dogs: Legion.Despite the glaring absence of Halo: Infinite, Microsoft claims to have “the largest launch lineup in Xbox history,” and adding Halo: MCC to the list of Xbox Series X|S enhanced titles is definitely great news for Halo fans.
