For the month of June 2021, Piscatella’sTwitter threadrevealed the top selling consoles and games, including the news thatXbox Series XandXbox Series Sconsoles were the best sellers for the month in dollar sales, setting a new record for Xbox sales in June. TheNintendo Switchretained its streak as the best-selling console in units sold.
Supply continues to be far below overall demand for both the Xbox Series consoles and Sony’sPS5, the latter of which is currently the fastest-selling console in U.S. history. In addition to chip shortages, Microsoft has been upgrading itsXbox Cloud Gamingservers with Xbox Series X hardware, enabling 1080p 60 FPS streaming and the ability to stream some Xbox Series Optimized games.
For games, the PS5 exclusiveRatchet and Clank: Rift Apartwas the best-selling game of June 2021.Resident Evil Villagefell to the sixth spot, while Sea of Thieves rose back into the top 20 games, seeing growth thanks to the recent expansion, A Pirate’s Life.
