Metro Exodus next-gen upgrade runs at 4K 60 FPS on Xbox Series X, PC enhanced edition announced

What you need to know
We already knew that 4A Games wasworkingon a free next-generation upgrade for its 2019 title Metro Exodus and now, the developers havesharedmore about what console players can expect. OnXbox Series XandPS5, the upgrade will allow Metro Exodus to run at 4K 60 FPS. The Xbox Series S version is currently targeting 1080p, with the framerate targeting 60 FPS.
All three consoles will benefit from Ray Traced Global Illumination and Ray Traced Emissive Lighting, as well as the ability to change the field of view (FOV) and heavily reduced load times thanks to the ultra-fast SSDs used as internal storage. There’s also going to be some platform-specific upgrades, with the Xbox versions benefitting from spatial audio and low controller latency enhancements, while the PS5 version will utilize theDualSense haptic feedback.
4A Games isn’t stopping there though, as there’s also going to be a PC Enhanced Edition, with new advanced ray-tracing reflections and DLSS 2.0 support. This will be a free upgrade for anyone who has already bought Metro Exodus for PC. There’s no doubt this version of the game will be visually stunning but you’ll want to have one of thebest PCs for playing Metro Exodusin order to make sure it runs well.
There’s no exact timeframe but these upgrades are currently slated to arrive at some point later in 2021.
