In a response to the recent drama surrounding Huawei and the U.S. government and growing concern about the company’s products outside China, Microsoft has reaffirmed their support for current Huawei’s devices in a statement toPCWorld.

“We remain committed to providing exceptional customer experiences,” the statement reads. “Our initial evaluation of the U.S. Department of Commerce’s decision on Huawei has indicated we may continue to offer Microsoft software updates to customers with Huawei devices.”

Intel has also confirmed to PCWorld that they will be continuing security and driver updates for Huawei laptops using their chips.

What this means is that, at least for the time being, current owners of Huawei-branded laptops need not worry too much about their devices going obsolete or falling behind with the latest security updates.

It’s important to stress, though, that this isn’t exactly a ringing endorsement for purchasing new Huawei laptops as the conflict between the company and the U.S. government is still ongoing and is unlikely to reach a resolution soon.

Are you relieved to hear that current Huawei products will continue to receive support? Are you thinking of buying a new Huawei computer despite the uncertainty? (Huawei devices have been added back to the Microsoft Store after all.) Share your thoughts with the community in the comments below and thenfollow us on Twitter for more tech news.
