While Microsoft has already praised the capabilities of its new Microsoft Edge on various occasions, the company has now started promoting the new web browser on Outlook.com (viaWindows Latest). Interestingly, non-Edge users who access their inbox on Outlook.com are now seeing a series of advertisements displayed above their inbox. The adverts claim that the Chromium-powered Edge browser could boost their performance, compatibility and speed.
Moreover, the adverts come with messages that encourage users of other browsers to download the new Microsoft Edge and try it on their devices. Windows Latest spotted a banner claiming that “Microsoft Edge + Outlook = Better together”, suggesting users to switch to the new browser for a better experience on Outlook.com. While another one indicated that the revamped browser has been “built to bring you the best of the web.”
It is noteworthy that these banners are displayed underneath the menu bar along with a link that would take you to the Microsoft Edge download page. However, there’s still an option to close these adverts which apparently don’t seem to come back again.
So far, the new Microsoft Edge has made pretty good progress, as it recentlysecured the position to be the 2nd most popular browser. Furthermore, Microsoft Edge team is constantly adding new features to improve its capabilities. In case you missed it, the new Edge now makes it easy toinstall it as a Progressive Web App (PWA)via a dedicated button in the url bar.
Do you think these messages are a good strategy to convince more people to use Microsoft Edge? Sound off in the comments down below.
