Microsoft introduces new Designed for Xbox mobile gaming accessories for iOS devices

In addition to the news thatXbox Cloud Gaming was now available on PC and iOS devicesin 22 markets, Microsoft unveiled yesterdaynew Designed for Xbox mobile gaming accessories for iOSdevices. Android users already had access toseveral officially licensed Xbox mobile controllerssuch as the Razer Kishi or the 8BitDo SN30 Pro, and it’s good to see Microsoft expand its lineup of Designed for Xbox mobile gaming accessories to iOS devices.

The first new Designed for Xbox mobile accessory is the Backbone One for Xbox, which compatible with all iPhone models with iOS 13 or later. This mobile controller connects to iPhones via the Lightning port and it has a dedicated button for capturing gameplay.

“With internals that reflect a breakthrough in connectivity and performance, Backbone One was designed to preserve battery life and reduce input latency by harnessing iPhone-exclusive technology, requiring no charging while enabling incredibly responsive gaming,” the Xbox team explained. The Backbone One Mobile iOS gaming controller ispriced at $99.99on the Microsoft Store, and it comes with 3 months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

Razer has also created a new version of its Kishi Universal Gaming Controller for iOS, which looks very similar to the Android version but comes with a Lightning port to charge your iPhone when you play. The Razer Kishi Universal Gaming Controller for iOS isavailable for pre-order todayfor $99, and it will also come with 3 months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

Keep in mind that can you still connect a regular Xbox Wireless controller to your iPhone or iPad to play cloud-enabled Xbox games via the web, and a growing number of games such as Minecraft Dungeons also support touch controls on iOS devices and Windows PCs. Xbox Cloud Gaming currently requires an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, and Microsoft is still offering 3 months of Ultimate for just $1 to new subscribers.
