Microsoft is about to release a sweet dark mode update for Word on Windows. The Office apps for Windowsgained support for dark theme some time ago, though the execution remains quite inconsistent with only select apps like OneNote and Outlook having turned off the lights for good.

This morning, Twitter user Florian B posted a picture of a new beta version of Word with a full dark theme, with the previously white page now being dark. This is definitely easier on the eyes, though you can see that the Styles section in the ribbon has kept its white boxes.

This full dark theme in Word for Windows is currently available in the beta channel, though Excel and PowerPoint have yet to receive a similar treatment. Anyway, these dark theme improvements for Word for Windows should hit the production channel next month, and they’ll likely make dark mode fans happy.
