Ever since Microsoft acquired AltspaceVR, asocial platformfor mixed reality back in 2017, the world has changed a lot and it has become one of the big building blocks for the Metaverse at Microsoft. Accordingly, Microsoftannouncedseveral changes for the service, all designed to help make it a safer place for everyone.

Rolling out today, AltspaceVR’s hosted social hubs including the Campfire, News and Entertainment Commons will all be removed. In addition, a Safety bubble will also now be turned on by default, and new attendees joining events will automatically be muted. Perhaps the biggest change, though, is requiring all users to log in to AltspaceVR using a Microsoft Account in the coming weeks.

This move will help integrate with the Microsoft Family Safety service, for those using AltspaceVR who might be age 13 and who might download from the Microsoft Store.  “As platforms like AltspaceVR evolve, it is important that we look at existing experiences and evaluate whether they’re adequately serving the needs of customers today and in the future,” explained Alex Kipman.

For most of the kids of his age, the Internet was an amazing way to play and communicate with others, but he was deeply impressed by the flow of information and how easily you can find anything on the web.

Prior to founding Windows Report, this particular curiosity about digital content enabled him to grow a number of sites that helped hundreds of millions reach faster the answer they’re looking for.
