People in the UK now have another option for purchasingMicrosoft’s Surface Duo. Mobile provider EE now has the Surface Duo available for purchase as part of phone contracts. There are several options available, ranging from a 4GB plan for £77 per month with £50 upfront to an unlimited plan with a Smart Benefit for £99 per month with £30 upfront.
As is often the case with purchasing a phone through a carrier, the majority of your monthly bill will be for your device, not the coverage on a network. For example, you can get 120GB of data for £20 on a SIM-only deal through EE right now. The cheapest plan that gets you a Surface Duo through EE is £77.
The benefit of purchasing the Surface Duo through EE is that it spreads the cost out over time. Getting a Surface Duo this way also cuts the difference in price between lower data plans and higher data plans. For example, the 100GB plan costs £87 per month. The unlimited plan £92 per month. The upfront cost for the unlimited plan is also lower (£30 vs £50).
The Surface Duo costs £1,349 if you buy it outright through the Microsoft Store. Spreading the cost out over time could make it much more accessible.
Unfortunately, the Surface Duo appears to be sold out at EE right now, so you may have to wait to order one. You can sign up to be notified when it’s available through EE.
