Those of you that are part of companies that heavily rely onMicrosoftproducts are familiar with Microsoft Teams andOutlook. One isMicrosoft’svery owncollaborative tool, while the other is a personal information manager that doubles as anemail client.
Both of them are part of theMicrosoft Office Suite, but at the same time, both of them are some of the few products that are actually truly free.
Both of these programs handle talking with others, scheduling tasks and other operations. Thus, it was only natural that away to link the two services directly would come to light.
Such is the story of howMicrosoftplans to introduce Teams-OutlookEmail Integrations in March.
The Teams-Outlook email integrations hits live in Q1 CY2020
Unfortunately, other than the announcement itself onMicrosoft’sofficial forums, no other information was given.
Because of the ambiguity of the post, users started speculating about the new add-in’s functionality:
To use these new features you can use the already existing Teams Meeting add-in or will there be a new one?
Other users were more curious about the integration’s release date:
Any idea when this add-in will become available, it’s February 2020 and I can’t find a download link
Plans for this new tool first reached the general public whenMicrosoftpublished on theirMicrosoft 365 Roadmap pagethat this will be the only feature they are currently working on.
Some of the speculations were debunked since according to the Roadmap page, there will be nothing to download. All the new features will be automatically added as part of the next majorOutlookupdate.
What does this mean for users?
Now that the two programs will be linked together easier, you will be able to work faster and more efficiently. This is especially when considering how the two programs complement some of each other’s cons.
Regardless of which, both of these programs are usually installed together on the same PCs anyway. Thus, linking them for better functionality should be second nature.
