Microsoft announced this week theacquisition of Orions Systems, a company delivering smart vision system that it plans to use to improve its Dynamics 365 offerings (viaZDNet). Muhammad Alam, CVP of Microsoft Dynamics 365 explained how the smart vision systems expert could improve Microsoft’s solutions for companies looking to optimize their retail operations through computer vision.
“The acquisition will bring additional technologies that will allow solutions like Dynamics 365 Connected Store and the Microsoft Power Platform to offer retailers and other organizations a way to build and train their own AI models to customize and optimize how they can learn from their physical space. This extra set of tools will deliver on scenarios beyond what is offered out-of-the-box today and can adapt to the truly unique dimensions and needs of their physical spaces,” explained the exec.
Microsoft announced its Dynamics 365 Connected Store last year as a new way to improve the retail experience by analyzing data from video cameras and IoT sensors. The ongoing covid-19 pandemic hit the retail industry pretty hard, and Microsoft actually announced theclosure of all of its retail stores worldwidelast month. Still, the company remains committed to helping the retail industry reinvent itself with smart vision. You can learn more about upcoming Dynamics 365 features on thisprevious blog post.

For most of the kids of his age, the Internet was an amazing way to play and communicate with others, but he was deeply impressed by the flow of information and how easily you can find anything on the web.
