Microsoft took to Twitter this afternoon to announce a major change to its Microsoft Teams service. The companydetailed that it is increasingthe number of participants viewed simultaneously on the meeting stage to 9.
Overfour years in the making now, this is a major change from before, where you would only see active video from the last four people that have spoken in the chat. According to Microsoft, the feature will be rolling out soon, though no exact time frame has been given. The company finally responded in the Teams UserVoice, indicating that they are “continuing work to increase this limit even further.”
Reaction to this change has been a bit mixed in the community. Considering Zoom lets you see up to 49 participants on a single screen, users seem to thinkthat the change doesn’t go far enough to help teachers or organizations with larger team sizes. However, Microsoft did say they are continuing work to increase the limit, so there is hope on the road ahead.
