Between now and the first week of January there are three major US holidays that traditionally foster notions of togetherness and family and in the spirit of those holidays, Microsoft has released its first holiday-themed marketing spot.

More specifically, Microsoft looks to be targeting its Christmas going crowd in this latest advertisement as it focuses less on invoking warm and gushy “holiday” feelings but rather the versatility of its Surface Pro 7.

The new spot dubbedHoliday Magic: Lucy & the Reindeer, is the presumably the first of a series of holiday marketing spots for Microsoft which will vary in message and tone as they have done in the past.

Older holiday efforts from Microsoft have done an arguably excellent job of marketing its devices while also offering sentimental context arguments for its software and services such as last year’s spot.

Or this completely out of nowhere competitor collaboration from three years ago.

While it’s never been an outright competition between companies, it’s always interesting to see how each tech company speaks to its audience how those messages are received across overlapping consumers.
