During anIgnite 2019session called “State of the browser: Microsoft Edge,” Microsoft officially confirmed that their newMicrosoft Edge web browser, an essential redesign of their current Edge browser, will be coming to the Linux operating system sometime in the future.
The reference to Linux was mentioned at the end of a list of supported platforms (cheersWLfor the eagle eyes) on a slide titled “The new Microsoft Edge is fully cross-platform.” No release date, let alone a window, is mentioned for the Linux version of Microsoft Edge with the words “available in the future” being the only concrete info provided.
The new version of the Microsoft Edge web browser isalready in testing with Insiders on Windows 10 and macOSand is expected to officially launch in public on January 15th next year. Mobile versions of the Edge browser are also available on iOS and Android devices.
