Microsoft unveiled its plans tooverhaul the Calling experience in its Teams collaborationservice back in December last year. If the software giant initially planned to roll out the enhanced Teams calling experience in April, the company has just updated the timeline in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center with a May 2021 release.

This update is meant to streamline the whole calling experience in the Windows and macOS desktop apps into a single location. Instead of being spread around, the new calling interface will bring all calling features such as the dial pad, contacts, voicemail, call history, and settings together in one tab. Overall, it should make it much easier for users to start a new call or return a call with a single click.

Apart from the new Calling experience on the desktop, Microsoft also announced other upcoming enhancements including CarPlay support on iOS devices and built-in spam call protection capabilities. The app is also getting new call recording options, which will enable Teams Admins to make OneDrive or SharePoint as a default location for saving their recordings.

Microsoft Teams has been growing very fast since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, and it has just reached an important new milestone for the company: Earlier this week, Microsoft announcedmore than 145 million daily active users for Teams, which is up from115 million daily users reported in Octoberlast year.
