Windows 10patchupdatesare supposed to fix minor bugs for that platform. Yet, some players have reported on forums that they’ve encountered many gaming issues after receiving March and Aprilupdates.
An NVIDIA staff member has told players to uninstall the KB5000842updateto fix issues.
Players have reported a variety of gaming issues that arise after installing three different Windows 10updates. KB5000842 was the first of thoseupdatesrolled out in late March.
The Windows updates caused gaming issues
The KB5001330 and KB5001337 Windows 10updatesare others that have impactedgameperformance.
Some players have said theirgameshave had lots of stuttering and unstable frame rates since receiving thoseupdates. Other players have said some of thoseupdatesbreak Vsync implementation.
One player said this isa Reddit post:
This update from Windows should fix some hdr problems. But it brakes a good VSync implementation… Before the update it (PC) runs on Vsync at 60 solid. After the update with VSync on, it drops from 60 to 55 to even 40-45. I uninstalled KB5000842 update and issue was gone.
Some players have reported persistent stuttering ingamesafter receiving the KB5001330update. One playersaid thisabout the KB5001330update:
Yep, it’s happening to me too on an RTX 3070 and R5 3600. Consistent stutter in Doom Eternal… Ended up just having to completely uninstall the update.
NVIDIA staff member urges players to uninstall an update
The Windows 10updategaming issues have now come to the attention of NVIDIA. A staff member said this on theNVIDIA forum:
If you are seeing lower performance ingames, check if rolling back Windows 10UpdateKB5000842 solves the issue.
The same can also be said of the KB5001330 and KB5001337updates. Players have confirmed that uninstalling thosepatchupdatesrestores gaming performance.
To uninstall one of thosepatchupdates, open Windows & Update in Settings. ClickViewupdatehistory>Uninstallupdatesto open the window directly below. Then select anupdatethere to remove and clickUninstall.
Microsoft has yet to comment on thegameperformance issues that the Windows 10patchupdatesare seemingly generating. At any rate, this is not the first timeWindows 10updateshave generated some software issues.
