Microsoft just released a new batch of cumulative updates with theDecember Patch Tuesdayupdates, and there are a lot of new changes and features included.

Unlike the classic releases, the company is now being a little more vague when specifying all the changes. It seems that the new KBs bring “Updatesto improvesecuritywhen Windows performs basic operations”, but what it really means?

December Patch Tuesday improves Windows’ security

Well, first of all you should know that theDecember security release includes security updates for Windows,Internet Explorer, Microsoft Office, SQL Server, Visual Studio, and Skype for Business.

While that doesn’t sound very basic, the updates aim to improve usability and security in normal tasks.

As such, everything related to virtualization and theWindows Kernel is less vulnerableto external and internal attacks. Also, external devices like game controllers, web cameras, and other peripherals, get the same treatment.

Microsoft Scripting Engine and Windows Server are not left out. In addition to non-security updates, the December Patch Tuesday updates also include fixes for allvulnerabilitiesthat affectWindows 10.

What can I expect from the new cumulative updates?
