Dead Space is coming back with a remake or reimagining of the franchise reportedly in development. That’s according toVentureBeatreporter Jeff Grubb, who indicates that this Dead Space game is being developed by EA Motive Studio.GematsuandEurogamerhave corroborated the game’s existence and we’ve heard similar things from our own sources earlier this year.

Motive has previously worked in a support capacity of games like Star Wars: Battlefront 2, while also developingStar Wars: Squadrons. The team reportedly had anew IP canceleda few months ago, though there were no layoffs as a result.

Grubb says that this project was heavily inspired by Capcom’s Resident Evil 2 remake (which has sold over 8.1 million copies) and in a similar vein, the Dead Space remake will use new visuals and gameplay mechanics but is built on the foundation of the original game.

On top of all this, theDead Space YouTube channelrecently changed its profile pic after years of inactivity. Coincedence? Perhaps.

We’ll have to wait and see just when this could be announced. EA Play 2021 is set for July 22, rounding out thesummer gaming events, and BioWare has already publicly confirmed thatDragon Age 4and thenext Mass Effectgames will not be present.
