What you need to know
Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) CEO Jim Ryan says that theacquisition of Nixxeswill help with bringing PlayStation IP to PC. In an interview withFamitsu, Ryan stated (as translated byVGC) that PlayStation is “…happy to be in the early stages of bringing our IP to the PC, and look forward to working with Nixxes to help us do that.”
Nixxes Software is a Dutch studio that’s been responsible for the PC ports of numerous Square Enix titles, such as Marvel’s Avengers and Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Sony acquired Nixxes in July, integrating the team into the Technology, Creative & Services Group atSony Worldwide Studios, meaning Nixxes will act in a support capacity helping the other teams and working on PC ports.
Earlier this year, Sony released a PC version of Bend Studio’s open-world survival gameDays Gone, while noting that a “slate” of other games were also coming to PC. These games have not yet been announced but a slide from an investor report indicates that one of the titlesmight be Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.
It’s possible we could see eventual PC ports of major upcoming PS5 titles likeHorizon Forbidden Westand thenext God of War. Hermen Hulst, Head of Sony Worldwide Studios, noted earlier this year that Days Gone came to PC about two years after launching on PS4, while stating that the company would “…continue to look at the right times to launch each game.”
The horde awaits
Days Gone stars Deacon St. John, a biker who lost a loved one in a horrific outbreak that has consumed the world. You’ll have to gather supplies, maintain your bike and outfight massive hordes of Freakers to stay alive.
