The EMEA gaming PC market’s solid Q2 2021 puts it on track for good year, says report

IDC hasreleased its figures and predictionsfor the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) gaming PC market now that 2021’s second-quarter gaming PC unit shipment figures are in. The results are as such: 2.5 million gaming PCs were shipped in Q2, which represents a 10.8% YoY (year-over-year) growth rate bump. The third quarter of 2021 is expected to have a 6.1% YoY boost, while the fourth quarter is predicted to sport a 4.8% YoY increase. In other words, as far as the analysts of IDC are concerned, the year’s percentages are downhill from here, though growth will still likely persist in a more limited capacity.
According to the report, current demand stems from those working from home in need of PCs. Furthermore, IDC wagers that upcoming games' heightened graphics requirements are pushing people to upgrade their rigs. Naturally, theworldwide chip shortageis playing a role in things, stimying maximum PC production and subsequent shipment figures.
IDC references another factor in the heightening of gaming PC shipments, beyond the expected causes of people working from home and needing to refresh their hardware for upcoming games. The market intelligence firm partially attributes the growth in shipments of thebest gaming desktop PCsto esports and streaming. As both activities grow in global popularity, there’s more incentive to game than ever before, and with services such as Steam making PC gaming easy and accessible, many people are diving in.
