Microsoft has acknowledged an issue with its Outlook.com webmail, with many users being unable to log into their outlook.com, live.com or hotmail.com mailboxes. If you’re affected, you may encounter the following message: “There was an issue looking up your account. Tap Next to try again.”

According to data fromDowndetector, the issue seems to be mostly affecting users in Europe and the US. We currently don’t have any issues logging into our own Outlook.com email inboxes, so your mileage may vary.

On itsService Health website, Microsoft currently indicates that it has taken some measures to restore the service. “Our analysis indicates that a portion of infrastructure responsible for authentication appears to be operating in a degraded state. We’re removing the affected systems from rotation and rerouting the impacted traffic to mitigate impact,” the company explained.

Update 10:20 AM PT: Outlook.com is now back up and running according to Microsoft. “We redirected the impacted traffic to alternate systems and confirmed that service has been restored,” the company indicated onTwitter.
