Every time Microsoft launches a new upgrade toWindows 10, users have the option to delay it for a few weeks or months.

As a quick reminder, only Windows 10 Pro, Enterprise or Education users can block newupdatesfor months on end.

Unfortunately,Windows 10Home doesn’t have any update deferral options.

In 2018, theupdatemeant for April 2018 was delayed for over 20 days and finally launched in May. Microsoft explained that the delay was due tosome finalization problems.

But this is not all for 2018, as theupdateprepared for October was launched on time indeed, but withsome technical issues. This one was immediately stopped, becausethe manualupdatewas deleting personal user files.

Even though Microsoft tried to stop theupdateas fast as they could, it still affected millions of users. The issues were of different types, such asZIP extraction fault, anactivation downgrade flawand afile association problem.

So after all of this, delaying the newupdateis maybe the best decision, especially for organizations users. Microsoft allows enterprises and education editions to delayWindows 10update install for months on end.

As you can see, the first update wave isalmost always buggy. The best approach is to simply defer theupdatesfor as long as you can.

In this manner, by the time you hit the update button, Microsoft will have hopefully fixed all the bugs and issues reported by the first users who installed the newOSversion.
