The next featured update for Windows 10, known as Windows 10 22H2, isnow out for testingin the Release Preview channel, but there’s a bit of story beyond that. As spottedby Thurrott.com, Microsoftquietly updatedthe original blog post for that Windows 10 22H2 news to tease some possible new features for the operating system in the future.
To be clear, Microsoft didn’t officially list or get into any new features up for testing in Windows 10 22H2. This specific 22H2 build is still only for validating servicing technology, and Microsoft specifically mentioned IT admins when talking about this Windows 10 22H2 build. Yet a note from Microsoft’s Brandon LeBlanc at the top of the page gets into the tease. Here’s what he says.
“Windows 10, version 22H2 has a scoped set of features and Microsoft will share more details on this update later this year.”
Beyond that simple quote, it is not apparent what these scoped sets of features might be. If we use Windows 11 as an example, Microsoft might enable new Windows 10 22H2 features via enablement packages. That, though, is also doubtful. Windows 11 is the future for Microsoft, getting new features like a tabbed File Explorer. Windows 10, version 22H1 was also a minor update, mainly coming with IT-centric features, so we expect more of the same. Either way, this is a story worth watching and we’ll do our best to update you on all the latest news and rumors.
