Microsoft recently announced thatWindows 10v19H1 will feature improvedRAW image formatsupport. This is a piece of great news for those who love takingpicturesinRAW image formatsand had always wanted theRAWfiles from their camera to be natively supported by Windows.

This newBuild 18323also comes with many bug fixes, and enhanced support for theRAW imagesis one of the major features. To make proper use of this improvement, Microsoft has created an updated store-deliveredRAWcodec package that can better improve nativeRAWfile formatsupport in Windows.

Just as soon as the package (RAWImageExtension, Beta Version) isdownloaded from the Microsoft Store, you will be able to view theimagethumbnails, camera metadata, and previews of all recent unsupportedRAWfiles in theFile Explorer.

Also, all yourRAW imagescan now be viewed in full resolution through any app that utilizes Window Imaging Component outline to decode rawimageslike Photos or Window app.

Keep in mind that some camera models and rawformatsmay not be supported. While the beta version of the Raw format supports most cameras, there are some exceptions, as Microsoft informs its users.

The current version of the extension supports a long list of cameras, however some Rawformatslike .CR3, and .GPR are not currently supported at this time.
