Starting this summer,Adobe Flash will be definitely removed from Windows 10. The Windows 10Update for Removal of Adobe Flash Playerwill permanently remove Flash from the operating system.
This is not unexpected, considering thatAdobe Flash Playerhas been out of support since December 31, 2020, and users were expecting it to be completely removed.
The KB4577586 Update for Removal of Adobe Flash Player that is expected to be available starting this month will be included in the Latest Cumulative Update for Windows 10, versions 1607, and Windows 10, version 1507.
Adobe Flash Player removed
Microsoft mentioned: that this update will not be available only for Windows 10, but also for older operating systems, such as Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012, and Windows Embedded 8 Standard:
As of July 2021, the KB4577586 Update for Removal of Adobe Flash Player will be included in the Latest Cumulative Update for Windows 10, versions 1607 and Windows 10, version 1507. The KB will also be included in the Monthly Rollup and the Security Only Update for Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012, and Windows Embedded 8 Standard.
With the recent updates, Microsoft already removed Flash support from Microsoft Edge browser and now it’s doing the same thing with the Flash Player that comes with Windows 10.
Microsoft has also statedthat the manually installed Adobe Flash Player can remain on the device and it will not be removed automatically.
This update only removes Adobe Flash Player that was installed by your version of Windows. If you installed Adobe Flash Player manually from another source, it will not be removed
Users can also remove Adobe Flash player at any moment, Microsoft states, by manually downloading and installing theKB4577586 updatethat is available in their Catalog.
