Xbox Cloud Gaming officially launches in Brazil, Mexico, Australia, and Japan

Microsoft is bringing Xbox Cloud Gaming to four new markets this week. The cloud gaming service will officially launch in Brazil and Mexico later today, with Australia and Japan to follow tomorrow.

The Redmond giant announced thislatest Xbox Cloud Gaming expansionduring its Tokyo Game Show digital event earlier today. Once again, the company reiterated its ambition to bring Xbox games to the 3 billion people playing games on the planet.

“With the expansion of Xbox Cloud Gaming to gamers in Australia, Brazil, Japan, and Mexico, we’re now opening the opportunity for over one billion people in 26 countries across five continents to be able to play Xbox Game Pass games from the cloud on their phones, tablets, and PCs. Since cloud gaming is powered by custom Xbox Series X consoles, that means these games are being played on an Xbox in the cloud, bringing faster load times and improved frame rates to the gameplay experience”, said Catherine Gluckstein, VP & Head of Product, Project xCloud.

Xbox Cloud Gaming currently requires an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, and in some markets, Microsoft is teaming up with mobile carriers to make that more accessible. In Australia, Telstra customers will be able to add an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate on their monthly bill, no console or PC required.

Xbox Cloud Gaming is currently available on the web, the Windows Xbox app, as well as iOS and Android phones and tablets, but it’s coming soon to Xbox consoles as well. Microsoft has startedtesting the feature with select Xbox Insidersearlier this week, and this will eventually allow all Xbox gamers to try Xbox Game Pass games without installing them.
