Microsoft wants to make it easier to get Windows 11 on new Windows 10 devices. The companyreleased a patchthat improves the initial setup experience in select Windows 10 editions, so you can directly upgrade a new device to Windows 11 without needing to complete the full Windows 10 setup process.

The new experience will be available on new devices with all the most recent versions of Windows 10, including Windows 10, version 2004, 20H2, 21H1, and 21H2. Of course, you’ll need to have an internet connection to get the KB5005716 update that allows this to happen, and the device will need to be eligible for the Windows 11 upgrade, too.

Once your system has this update ready, you can choose the upgrade to Windows 11 option, and the process will begin shortly after the out of box experience is completed. If you really want Windows 11 and you just got a new Windows 10 PC, this new option should be a real-time saver as you won’t have to go through Windows Update or deal with using the Installation Assistant to get the new OS.
